A parte de los premios Oscar, los Critics Choice Awards busca reconocer lo mejor del cine, así como también, premiar a las producciones destacables de la pantalla chica. Para este 2022, la gala se preparada para ser una de las más entretenidas, ya que entre los nominados hay series y películas de superhéroes, filmes de La Academia que han arrasado durante la temporada de premios e importantes mexicanos que han demostrado su profesionalismo en la industria.
El cineasta Guillermo del Toro, de forma directa, así como el también el realizador Carlos López Estrada, los actores Eugenio Derbez y Cristo Fernández, son los artistas mexicanos que buscarán galardones en los Critics Choice Awards.
Por una parte, Del Toro, opta por los premios a la película, en su calidad de productor, y dirección, gracias a su trabajo en El Callejón de la Almas Perdidas, una cinta de drama y suspenso remake de la historia original de 1947, en la que un corrupto y psiquiatra se unen para timar. López Estrada es codirector de Raya y El último dragón, de los estudios Disney, en la categoría de Largometraje Animado, misma en la que estará presenta en la próxima entrega del Oscar.
Eugenio Derbez participó en la película: CODA: señales del corazón, cuyo elenco completo fue galardonado por los Screen Actord Guild. La historia está considerada en cuatro categorías: Película, Actor y Actriz de Reparto con Troy Kutsar y Emilia Jones, y Guión Adaptado. Y Cristo Fernández, forma parte de Ted Lasso, serie futbolera que opta en la categoría de serie de Comedia.
¿Dónde se llevarán a cabo los Critics Choice Awards 2022?
Originalmente, la ceremonia estaba programada para el 9 de enero del 2022, pero fue retrasada hasta este 13 de marzo debido al aumento de casos de coronavirus. Como resultado de ello, los Critics Choice Awards terminaron compartiendo su fecha de ceremonia con los premios BAFTA, que también se llevarán a cabo la misma noche.
Los organizadores de los Critics Choice Awards revelaron que su espectáculo se llevaría a cabo tanto en Los Ángeles, California; como en Londres. Según informó Deadline, "La ceremonia de Los Ángeles se llevará a cabo en el Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, mientras que las estrellas de Londres se reunirán en el Savoy Hotel para una velada nocturna que, según se informa, será una parte integral de la transmisión en vivo".
